Bali Indonesia (Tulamben)

Liberty Dive Resort

With all honesty, I have to admit that this is one of the most expensive places I have ever dived [in comparisons to Day dives and not LOB] in with accommodations included, however, it was money well spent as I was diving with a really good friend. It was expensive but the service was perfect, you get a huge room with your own space to hang out your diving gears, the toilet in the room was HUGE. Well I guess that's what you get for the price you pay [I was not the planner which explains the price]. Why is the service so wonderful? You get to be flexible, you can tell your dive guide the day before on what time you wish to start your first dive the next day and there is no fixed timing. At the time you chose, a personal vehicle [open back lorry] will arrive at your resort with the dive guide to pick you, your equipment and the amount of tanks you are going to use to the dive site, if you were to decide on a further dive site, additional charges apply. You can have as much rest time as you wish to have after your dive and they will send you back to your accommodation if your next dive is at a different dive site. Once we arrived back at the resort they served us watermelon and hot/ice tea. There was only one thing I did not like about the dive sites, this is personal, all the dive sites I went to were shore dives.

The dive sites which I went to during my stay there were:

1) Liberty wreck (Day/Night)

2) Coral Garden

3) Wall/Dropoff

4) Melasti

5) Tree

If you have a camera to shoot macro sea life these dive sites are perfect for you. For those who are more experienced you might know that there is a photography competition held at Tulamben bali called the Dragon cup.

More about Tulamben

Tulamben Bali is a super chill place where you would love it if you are looking more for a laid back relax holiday instead of partying all day.

At the place I stayed [Liberty Dive resort], there was nothing much within walking distance, renting a bike would be strongly recommended as it would be so much easier to cover distance. However, if you wish for somewhere with more shops with walking distance, you can head down to Amed Beach, they have lots of resorts and dive shop around the area. Also, did I mention that the sand on the beach is black? This is due to the minerals from the volcanic ash.
